Default Resurrection Prophecies

Book: Resurrection Prophecies
Chapter: Lord Arcreign's War

Long ago, in a land plagued with horrid beasts known only as the Forsaken, lived a great king. His name was Lord Arcreign. He was the greatest king Kyndale had ever had. He resided in the capital, Nebora. Everything was peaceful and happy. But a great calamity was about to occur, one in which the king wouldn't live to tell the tale. His guild, known as the Kyndale's Ascendant, was fighting day and night to try to push back the horrid Forsaken.

They slayed as many as they lost. The king himself took dozens of Forsaken at the edge of his blade, Chrysanthemum. The queen was going to have a child, a daughter, on midsummers day. She already had a son born on midwinters day, whom they christened Fenalys. On the day her daughter was born, the Forsaken launched a huge siege, led by the king's most trusted adviser. He'd been helping them all along. In his rage, the king picked up Chrysanthemum, and struck down his adviser. Then he ran in, killing dozens, maybe hundreds of Forsaken. His sword showed his anger, it had turned red. Suddenly a Forsaken Assassin lunged at the king, his daggers sharp and bloody. The king was felled with one great cut. The army, enraged over their king's death, went into a frenzy. Killing thousands upon thousands of Forsaken.

They won, but the king was dead. The queen's ladies-in-waiting and her doctor told everyone that she had died in child birth, and that the queen had told them to name the child Tora. Everyone mourned the king and queen, there was a grand procession to the graveyard where they were to be buried. There, the king lay, the fire in his eyes slowly burning out...

"Fenalys, Fenalys, wake up, your gonna be late for the academy! Tora's already ready," my father shouts, from the door. I excitedly got up, ready for action. It was going to be my first day at Nebora Academy, and I'm going to be in the Warrior's division. I'll finally going to be able to use my sword, which he call Menar. Its a colossal great sword. As I turned to my brother, Nerath, I thought of what it'd be like in the King's Army. The last king, Arcreign, died 10 years ago. Now there's a king known as Lord Timot. Anyway, I started to shake him, and as usual, he just got up and lobbed me upside the head. "What do you think you're doing?! I was dreaming of all the pretty Elementalists at the academy." But he gets up anyway, it's his first day in the Ranger's division. Tora is going to be in the Elementalist's division. Imagine that, your 10 year old sister was going to be a Elementalist. I started for the door, but was shoved out of the way by a rushing Nerath, yelling, "Last one down is a Grawl!" I start to sprint downstairs, racing with Nerath. I lost by only a fraction of an inch. I was happily imagining what was going to happen on my first day at the academy, when my father grabs me and lifts me onto my horse, knocking me out of dreamworld. I grabbed Tora and put her on the horse. As Nerath ride and I ride together to the academy, we exchanged ideas on how it's going to be like on our first day, nervously. As we reached the academy, we said said our good byes to each other. The other two slowly made their way to their seperate divisions.

I enter shyly, looking at the ground. With Menar slung over my back, I must have looked pretty intimidating. "That's no way to enter a building full of warriors, private! Stand up tall and let me see you." The teacher barks. He walks around you, examining your build and physique. Hmmm..Strong, and heavy...We could do something with you yet. I pulled out my blade. It flashed bright blue in the sunlight. "Woah there, there is no way I am going to let you use that monster just yet." I shyly looked around. Everyone else had a small wooden sword. I felt embarrassed and I could feel my cheeks burning red. "Wahaha, no need to be embarrassed, I once had a kid who came in here with a Dead Sword and a Skull Shield. Mighty evil he looked."

At the end of the day, I rode home. Every muscle in my body was screaming for a relaxing, soothing bath. My sister is half-fainting, she was the only child in her class that had successfully lit a candle, with magic. As I rode home, my brother riding wearily next to me, I watched the sun slowly set over the western horizon...
